What are Barth's views on the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of the Bible? Do Barth's views contradict orthodox biblical doctrine? Using descriptive research methods and a literature study approach, this study will examine Barth's views in depth and critically review them from a Reformed theological perspective. The analysis reveals that Barth's biblical doctrine—specifically the Bible as the word of God, its inspiration, inerrancy, and authority—contradicts the main principles of biblical doctrine according to Reformed theology. For Barth, the Bible is a testimony to God's word and is not identical with God's word. While he did not reject the concept of biblical inspiration, his understanding of inspiration differed fundamentally from the Reformed perspective. Barth rejected the inerrancy of the Bible, a belief of Reformed theology, because he considered the Bible to be fallible.
